New Dev-blog video!

08/26/2009

Hi all,

We’ve been scrambling for the past few days to get our third dev-blog video ready, as well as all our PAX preparations. This video one shows a bit more of the gameplay, as well as some multiplayer split screen goodness. We’re making an announcement in the video as well, but you’ll have to watch the video for that. :)

Also, come check us out at the Penny Arcade Expo! You can try out Scrap Metal, and we’ll have some cool swag to give away as well. Look for booth #3106 (directly across from the PAX10 stand)

In a video I saw, you guys said you were big fans of the 90s top down racers….would that list include Combat Cars, by any chance? Because as soon as I saw the gameplay footage, I immediately thought of CC. I loved that game, and if Scrap Metal takes any cues from that, I’ll definitely be buying this when it comes out!

great game you got in the pipeline, I love wrecking cars, foremost in company. I hoped that this game could be a successor to my all time favorite “mashed” from the original xbox. but since the mp is split-screen, i doubt that this will happen.
It would be kind if you give the one-screen 4players mp (like in the mentioned mashed or in micromashines) a try…

Played the demo at PAX. It looks awesome but don’t forget to fix that corner (you know which one). I’ll definitely be downloading it. Let me know if you need a beta tester :)

PS the T-Shirts are great.

This looks great!
I wasted hundreds of hours playing Mashed at my dorm room. Great fun.

I saw you are going to include a split-screen mode for local multiplayer. One of the great things with Mashed was the fact that you could play with four players in one screen (if you fall behind, you explode). That way there is a lot more interaction between the players (in real life I mean) because everyone can see each other. Do you plan on incorporating such a mode too? That would be awesome!

It was nice meeting you guys at PAX last weekend. The game looks like it’s coming along great and I look forward to it. Hopefully you have time to incorporate multiple people on one xbox over live :)

Thanks for the shirt!

Been playing Death Rally since it has been rereleased free for Windows and was looking for something similar to play and here I am :) Looks OK so far guys, hope you will be able to release it on other platforms as well.

The asphalt track is looking good and atmospheric (maybe could use a bit more colorful lights).

The gravel track, however, looks a bit plain, adding some brightness might help. And racing wise it seems a bit boring, slidy handling of those buggies and wide space on track doesn’t really make it for tight racing. Is this game more destruction derby orientated? If yes, it would be cool if you guys could discuss more about the shooty mechanics and damage.

Naturally all other details that you could possibly spare will do, like how many cars, tracks and weapons are you aiming at etc.

Thanks, J.
*waiting for more Dev-blog videos*
